The Story: Most music scholars will agree that Elvis Presley invented rock ‘n’ roll with his legendary 1954 Sun recording of “That’s All Right Mama.”

The Truth: It was actually a teenager named Marty McFly who, under the guise of “Calvin Klein” who singlehandedly invented rock ‘n’ roll with his breathtaking performance of “Johnny B. Goode.” Marvin Berry proceeded to steal that song and sell it to his cousin Chuck, The rest is history. This story was made into the little-seen 1985 documentary… “Back to the Future.”

The Story: While on tour in Manchester, England, legendary folk singer Bob Dylan played his first electric concerts outside of the U.S. Longtime Dylan fans felt betrayed by his switch to electric rock and let him know that he was considered a traitor. As heard on many famous bootlegs, a fan loudly berated Dylan with the taunt of “Judas.”

The Truth: The recordings don’t lie; a man clearly shouted “Judas” at the stage. But what many don’t know is that he was
actually giving a “shout out” to Dylan’s new touring drummer, Judas “The Fink” Finkleburg. This incident has obviously been blown out of proportion in music history books.

The Story: Legend has it that Delta-born guitarist Robert Johnson went down to the crossroads at midnight to sell his soul to the devil, and become a blues legend. His story was made into the 1986 film Crossroads starring “The Karate Kid” Ralph Macchio as Robert Johnson and Steve Vai as Satan’s personal shredder.

The Truth: Exactly 70 years after Johnson, the multi-talentless Ashlee Simspon sold her soul to the devil on the very same spot. Unfortunately, her contract expired the same night as her famed SNL debut.

The Story: After a grueling tour of Japan, Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx overdosed on heroin in Slash’s Hollywood hotel room. Legally dead, Sixx was later revived by paramedics. After waking he proceeded to check himself out of the hospital and ODed again.

The Truth: While it’s true Nikki Sixx has died on various occcasions, many people don’t know he repeatedly brought back to life using spare parts from Mötley bandmate Mick Mars.
