RFMag Holiday Gift Guide 2016: LucidSound Wireless LS30 Gaming Headset

LucidSound Wireless LS30 Gaming Headset

With everything that LucidSound put into the LS30, I expected this headset to go for $200. Instead, it’s a steal at $150. $150 gets you a multi-platform wireless headset, packed with onboard controls, great looks, and an overall respectable sound presentation. LucidSound found a way to provide you with, at the very least, wireless inbound uncompressed sound quality for two current gen and two previous gen consoles. Xbox made it tricky for many headset manufacturers to establish completely wireless solutions a price lower than $200. The LS30 gives you 100% of its functionality with cable usage only necessary when you want to chat. They even provide you with the cables. Otherwise, if you’re playing by yourself or just watching a movie, you can still have a 100% wireless experience. Best of all, it has a stylish and casual look, making it a headset that you’d be happy to take out on the road.

RFMag Holiday Gift Guide 2016: SteelSeries Arctis 3 Gaming Headset

SteelSeries Arctis 3 Gaming Headset

While we were hoping to get our hands on the Arctis 5 before our gift guide went up, I didn’t want the gift guide to miss out on the exciting new SteelSeries series of headset. The SteelSeries Arctis 3 is the lowest tier of the SteelSeries Arctis headsets, coming in at a very respectable $79.99. Saying “lowest tier” alone does the Arctis 3 an injustice since it excels as the base of the Arctis series. It comes with the bare essentials: a swappable 3.5mm cable and a mic/headphone splitter extension cable for PC use. The Arctis 3 is ready for SteelSeries 7.1 Surround Sound via the SteelSeries’ peripheral customization software, the SteelSeries Engine. It has the stylish Arctis look and hi portability making it the perfect audio solution for the home and the streets.

SteelSeries’ multi-tiered releases have been a model they followed for a long time. Being able to tap into multiple markets of gamers with varying budgets is the way to go in an age where not everyone wants to shell out $200 for a headset. Even with $50 gaming headsets being released in the past few months, I’d urge cost-conscience gamers to stretch just a little bit more and check out the $79.99 SteelSeries Arctis 3. For the amount of functionality and quality you get, you won’t be disappointed.

RFMag Holiday Gift Guide 2016: Starboy Album - The Weeknd (iTunes)

Starboy Album – The Weeknd (iTunes)

I’ve been an avid listener since my middle school days of the R&B scene, but my gosh The Weeknd is by far a cut above the rest. His previous album, Beauty Behind the Madness, was such an addictive journey of sound. The Weeknd (aka. Abel Tesfaye) has masterfully trailblazed the mix of R&B and pop music. The highly anticipated album, Starboy, opens with the self-titled track which has already been respectfully placed in charts across the airwaves. If you are looking to get lost in a hypnotic, psychedelic, electrifying environment, then look forward to The Weeknd.
