HTC reveals the One A9

Last week HTC held a live stream that revealed the new HTC One A9. With a design that has been imitated by other phone manufacturers, “the HTC One A9 features a super-thin metal frame with an elegant finish, expandable SD card memory and edge-to-edge Corning® Gorilla® Glass.”† Not going to lie but at first glance the phone greatly resembles an iPhone. It is only after you take a second glance at the screen that you realize the HTC One A9 is actually an Android phone.

Loaded with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the HTC One A9 features Now on Tap, Android Pay, and a fingerprint scanner. Now on Tap appears to make it easier to search based on context. As illustrated in the following video, if you are texting someone to see if they are up for a movie tonight you would be able to easily look up move showtimes with a tap that brings up Google Now showing you the content you would eventually be searching for. The HTC One A9 will have the ability to easily look up reviews for a movie from a text, hear a song mentioned in a blog post, or book seats at a restaurant from an email just by tapping the home button.† Android Pay uses a virtual account number while shopping, so your actual credit card details are never shared or transmitted.†

However, if you were hoping for wireless charging, you are out of luck. But at least the HTC One A9 features Qualcomm®Quick Charge 2.0 support so you can recharge and get going in minutes rather than hours. With the HTC Rapid Charger 2.0, in just ten minutes you can get enough charge to listen to almost 7 hours of music.

HTC Themes return and allow you to customize your phone with wallpapers, colors, icons, sounds, fonts, and more. You can even turn a photo into an instant theme that intelligently matches the photo’s colors. Share your creations with thousands of other creators around the world.†

The HTC One A9 houses a 13MP camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). A gyroscope and microprocessor reduce camera shake for better photos in most lighting situations, including low light. It detects hand movement within 0.125 milliseconds and compensates by shifting the lens in real time for less blur.† The HTC One A9 gives you the choice of Auto or Pro mode to capture the perfect photo. Choose Auto for fast, streamlined photo capture for amazing pictures where shots are saved in just 0.1 seconds from a click. Choose Pro to set up the scene perfectly with settings and adjustments such as manual focus and exposure values. Additionally, with Pro mode, you can choose to save photos using RAW capture. RAW keeps almost all the original data from your camera sensor, giving you greater flexibility when using photo-editing software. The front-facing camera is able to capture up to 300% more light per pixel, so you can take better selfies in almost any setting, even in low light when compared to standard 1.1-micrometer pixels.†

The HTC One A9 represents the culmination of over 20 years’ experience in sound engineering. Every aspect, from the circuit board design to the placement of each electrical component was considered to reduce sound interference and minimize distortion. HTC One A9 delivers 24-bit high-resolution sound with Dolby Audio Surround, built-in DAC and high-output amplifier. Higher power output means higher fidelity sound. With the built-in headset amp you’ll enjoy a greater dynamic range than you’d expect from a smartphone.†

The HTC One A9 is available in Carbon Grey, Opal Silver, Deep Garnet, and Topaz Gold. You can pre-order yours here or learn more about the HTC One A9 right here.
