4Knots Music Festival Sails West

4knots 2015All aboard! This year, the Village Voice‘s 4Knots Music Festival returns—just a tad different. Since 2011, the one-day, free-for-all (literally) of music has rocked the South Street Seaport, but this year the fest is moving on up—and over—to the West side along the Hudson River. It’s also no longer free for all. This year, it’s a ticketed event.

Pier 84 in Hudson River Park (555 12th Ave., near West 44th St.) is this year’s 4Knots home on July 11, the largest pier space for the festival to date. Kicking off at noon and moving on through the night, this year, the Voice pulled in Pavement frontman’s other band (for the past 15 years), Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, Chicago rockers Twin Peaks, punk rock out of New Brunswick, NJ from Screaming Females, all the way through headliners, psychedelic Welsh rockers Super Furry Animals.

This year, the all-ages  festival will also be a ticketed event ($25; VIP tickets, $50) with a portion of the proceeds of the ticket sales benefiting the Friends of Hudson River Park. Those holding VIP tickets will get to board the Hornblower Infinity Cruise Ship (known for operating cruise-y happy hours and NYC sightseeing tours) with access to a private bar, VIP Lounge and exterior deck.

Any festival goer needs the proper nutrition to keep rocking. Luckily, this year’s curated, 4Knots lineup of eateries includes Dos Toros, Papaye King, Crafty ‘Cue BBQ, Harlem Public, Luzzo’s Pizza and something sweet and creamy from TiAmo Gelato.
