June 8th is National Ghostbusters Day and we’ve teamed up with PLAYMOBIL to share their new line of playsets inspired by the classic 1984 movie. There are six different playsets featuring familiar settings and characters like the firehouse, the Ecto-1, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and more. Each set brings the movie to life and should be a must have for old and new fans alike.
Let’s take a peek at each of the six PLAYMOBIL Ghostbusters playsets.
Ghostbusters™ Ecto-1
Speed through the city in the iconic Ecto-1! This legendary action vehicle has plenty of space for proton packs and ghost traps thanks to the detachable roof. With original sounds and functioning lights, this vehicle is set for ghostbusting action. Set also includes Ghostbusters Winston Zeddemore and Janine Melnitz in their official uniforms with two detachable proton packs and proton lasers, ghost trap, PKE meter for measuring psychokinetic energy, and silicone slime splatters that stick to smooth surfaces.
I was actually lucky enough to check out and build my very own Ecto-1. It was incredibly easy to put together, in about 45 minutes. Everything fits conveniently into the Ecto-1 which makes it very easy to keep all the pieces together as well as displayed in your toy collection. The lights and sounds are an extra special touch. Seriously, this is one really cool playset!
Ghostbusters™ Firehouse
Something strange in your neighborhood? Call the Ghostbusters™ Firehouse! Here you will find Spengler mixing up his current ghost-fighting mixture in the lab, Stantz keeping a close watch on the Library Ghost, and Janine answering all your ghostbusting calls. When the call comes in, watch them race into action sliding down the fire pole to the garage. Here, the Ecto-1 (9220 – sold separately) can be parked inside for even more ghoulish action. And don’t forget to lock up all ghosts in the Ghost Containment Unit. This set is packed with plenty of accessories for hunting down ghosts, including a detachable proton pack and proton laser, ghost trap, PKE meter for measuring psychokinetic energy, silicone slime splatters that stick to smooth surfaces, and more!
Slimer with Hot Dog Stand
Prepare to get slimed by Slimer while he hits up his local Hot Dog Stand. Known for his hearty appetite, it’s easy to track down the Ecto-plasmic, supernatural being on one of his outings for a snack as he leaves behind a trail of sticky slime. Set also includes hot dog vendor, silicone slime splatters that stick to smooth surfaces, hot dogs, condiments, burger, drinks, bike, umbrella, and other accessories.
Venkman and Terror Dogs
Watch as Ghostbuster Venkman uses his witty remarks to take on the Terror Dogs. These goulish creatures have escaped from another world, forcing Venkman to use his super pack to defeat the glaring red-eyed beasts and release Dana Barrett. Set also includes detachable proton pack and proton laser, ghost trap, and a PKE meter for measuring psychokinetic energy.
Spengler and Ghost
Join the brains of the Ghostbusters™ squad, Spengler, as he battles the glow-in-the-dark Ghosts! Using his practical approach, he is able to face off against two ghosts simultaneously, capturing one in his ghost trap while battling the other with his proton laser. Set also includes proton pack and other accessories
Stay Puft Marshmallow Man
He may look fluffy and cute, but Stay Puft is ready to scare the city! With movable arms, there is no stopping him as he stomps along the streets. Stand back as Ghostbuster Ray Stantz uses his proton pack on the larger-than-life ghost and covers the city in marshmallow! Set also includes Ecto-Goggles and other accessories.
