Since 1996 Nyko has provided consumers with innovative and affordable peripherals. Gamers and tech junkies alike have been able to greatly enhance their technological lifestyles with great products to fit each of their individual needs. We have shared our love for Nyko’s Wii U accessories in the past, but what does the future hold for this revolutionary company?
Today at the Consumer Electronics Show Nyko announced a new lineup of fantastic products for the next generation of gaming consoles and mobile devices. Let’s take a look and see what will be available soon!
Mobile Accessories
Power Base
One of the first items that will appear in this year’s accessory market is the uniquely designed Power Base for mobile devices. The angular design is specially made to give users easy access to their smartphones for continuous use or for viewing pleasure as the phone sits on a desk, table, or nightstand. Not only that, but it has a very sleek look with a modern color scheme to it that will surely fit any office’s decor without looking out of place. “We are eager to bring a fresh take on the mobile charging market by replacing the plane pad design of most induction chargers with an elegant and user friendly wedge,” stated Director of Marketing Chris Arbogst.
You will be able to avoid wearing out your phone’s charger port thus possibly improving the overall lifespan of your device with the Power Base. By simply slide your phone into the base, it will begin to charge wirelessly. There are no metal contacts or special casing needed to use the Power Base, meaning your phone is ready for use pretty much out of the box. However, at this point in time, the Power Base only supports the Samsung Galaxy S 4, Google Nexus 5, and any other Qi enabled smartphone. The Galaxy S4 does need a Qi charging adapter to connect, but luckily Nyko gives you one with the Power Base and it is incredibly easy to install. No additional pieces or purchases are required.
The Power Base will be available this spring for $39.99.
Gaming
Intercooler (PlayStation 4)
In order to help keep your home theater system at ideal tempatures, the new Intercooler for the PlayStation 4 has been announced. It clips onto the back of your PlayStation 4 without interfering with any of the ports. The built-in fans pull air out and away from the system to help prevent overheating; a simple solution to prevent a terrible disaster in the future.
Right now we only have concept images, so the final design is subject to change. Expect to see the Intercooler on retail shelves sometime this spring for $24.99.
Power Pak (PlayStation 4)
Gaming for hours on end sounds like fun, but it can be a difficult task sometimes. Batteries only have a certain amount of life to them before they start to die. Then you have to put everything on hold until they are charged again. Luckily Nyko is here to save you from these unfortunate situations. The new Power Pak doubles the battery life of the PlayStation 4 Dualshock controller. This lightweight battery pack adds very little bulk to the controller while the sleek design ensures it will not interfere with your hands. Once you are done, simply plug it back up via the Mico USB port or a Nyko PS4 Charge Base.
Once again, we only have concept images. The final product has not yet been shown but it will be out this spring for $19.99.
Charge Cable (XBox One and PlayStation 4)
Sometimes you might not want to stop playing your game when your controller starts to die. Rest assured that Nyko still has you covered even when your Power Pak has been sucked dry in the middle of an all night gaming marathon. The Charge Cable will be available for both the XBox One and PlayStation 4. These 8ft Micro USB cables allow users to charge their controllers before, during, and after gaming sessions. Each cable can also be plugged into an outlet for faster charging. While each one is designed for their respective system, the XBox One cable will include a LED light that will light up once the controller has fully been charged.
Pick one of these cables up for your new system as soon as it hits store shelves later this month for $9.99 each.
Power Grip (Vita 2000 Series)
Redesigned for a new series of handhelds, the popular Vita Power Grip is back. The new, sleeker, and more slim Power Grip will fit snugly on the 2000 Series Vitas. Not only will it double the battery life, but it will also include ergonomic grips to make gaming on the go or Remote Play more comfortable. It will support the same charger as the Vita itself meaning you do not need to worry about any additional accessory purchases. There is no set release date yet, but it is estimated to retail for around $19.99.
