It is time to go over another round of Razer CES announcements, this time at CES 2023. As always, Razer unveiled a slew of new products. From the CES 2023 showcase, the products that grabbed our attention included two new laptop models, a new gaming tablet, a head-tracking soundbar and a new headrest speaker concept. Let’s dive into our favorites from the show.
Razer Edge Gaming Tablet

The new Razer Edge gaming tablet will be offered in two wifi-only variants and a 5G variant that will be exclusive to Verizon. The Razer Edge and Razer Edge 5G gaming tablets feature a 6.8” AMOLED display with a 2400×1080 FHD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. Designed with Qualcomm, these tablets are powered with the latest Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 active-cooled gaming chipset and a 3GHz Kryo CPU.

All three models share the specs shown above with additions for the Razer Edge 5G and Razer Edge Founders Edition models. The Razer Edge 5G will also support 5G connectivity on the Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband network. Meanwhile, the Razer Edge Founders Edition will also include the Razer Hammerhead True Wireless earbuds.
Each model will also come with a Razer Kishi V2 Pro mobile controller. In a nutshell, the Razer Kishi V2 Pro is much like the Razer Kishi V2 controller we reviewed here, except the “Pro” houses Razer HyperSense haptics. We loved what we experienced with the Razer Kishi V2, so we cannot wait to see how well this controller scheme pairs with the new Razer Edge gaming tablet.

Razer Leviathan V2 Pro Soundbar

The Razer Leviathan V2 Pro is a beamforming soundbar with head-tracking AI. It is the result of a Razer partnership with THX and Audioscenic, a company specializing in 3D audio beamforming. The Razer Leviathan V2 Pro tracks the user’s head position to deliver THX Spatial Audio to the listener. Thanks to the AI headtracking, the soundbar will continue to deliver you accurate 3D audio even as you naturally shift your head while you are gaming or media-consuming. This is thanks to the IR camera situated at the top center of the soundbar. The Razer Leviathan V2 Pro comes with a downward firing subwoofer, completing this immersive audio experience. Complimenting that immersion is Razer Chroma RGB, illuminating the bottom of the soundbar through 30 separate lighting zones.

The Razer Leviathan V2 Pro will be available for purchase starting at $399.99 in February 2023. You can check it out for yourself by clicking here.

Project Carol Concept Design

Every CES, Razer always showcases a concept design that has the potential to lead to a project launch, depending on the feedback received. One example of that is the recently-released Razer Zephyr, which originally began as such a concept. At CES 2023, we got to experience Project Carol, a head cushion that delivers 7.1 surround sound and haptic feedback. This concept provides up to eight hours of audio over a 2.4GHz wireless connection. The head cushion is designed to fit with all gaming chairs as well as Razer’s own line of chairs.

The speakers on the head cushion can be adjusted both inward and outward, giving you various listening arrangements. When we tried it at the show, we were not only impressed by the presentation of the audio, but also how well it was directed to the person sitting in the chair. This is great for the type of gamer or media consumer that prefers to listen to their media without headphones. This concept offers a style of listening that is not only immersive but allows the listener to enjoy sound without disturbing those around them.
It will be quite interesting to see if Project Carol takes off in its very own product launch. You can check out more on Project Carol by clicking here.
