Julien-K is producing the music of the future with their debut album “Death To Analog” which is scheduled to hit stores March 10th. This alternative/electronica foursome have been around for a little while, forming as a side project in 2003. They’ve opened for Evanescence and Mindless Self Indulgence along with being drafted into the 2008 Projekt Revolution Tour with Linkin Park.
Julien-K isn’t new to the digital music scene. Both founding members of Julien-K, Amir Derakh and Ryan Shuck are former members of the late 90’s electronic band Orgy. Adding to the outstanding lineup, Chester Bennington from Linkin Park produced the cd while Tim Palmer did and excellent job mixing it.
Because I’m amazing, I was able to obtain a copy of “Death To Analog” and I was blown away. This CD offers a lot more than a couple lousy electronic club beats pounding throughout their songs. An amazing entrant into the greatly expanding electronic genre of today. Not your average dance CD, spend the time to listen to the lyrics you’ll be blown away.
Normally I sit down and listen to a CD several times before I can write about it, not this time. The intense opening track, “Death To Analog” is a great opener. The lyrics are straight to the point without wasting anybody’s time with filler. “Kick The Bass” is the first single. You can check out the video for the single on YouTube where it remains to be one of the highest ranked videos.
Julien-K will be around for a while. If you don’t get your fill of them with their debut, be sure to look for them on the upcoming Transformers 2 video game which is due sometime in the Summer of 2009.
