As soon as I heard that Nexon was coming to E3, I was thinking that maybe they were going to unveil a new game that wasn’t free. So far, I’ve seen and heard nothing but good things when it came to anything Nexon. “Maple Story” is a personal fav of mine and I can’t even walk into a Duane Reade, CVS or Rite Aid anymore without buying Nexon Bucks. However, I’m not really sure if that’s what they are really called but I think you’ve seen them. Those prepaid cards with cute anime characters on them that you can use to buy in-game items for Nexon games.
But I can honestly say that Nexon came to E3 with not only the coolest swag, the “Spirit Hood”, which I’m still saddened I didn’t get one, but with a really great FREE lineup.
“Vindictus” was the very first title I played at the Nexon booth and once I got used to ‘ASD’ gameplay, I was hooked. I had a team of three people fighting alongside of me and we were tearing the place up! Picking up barrels and boulders then tossing them at our foes. It was extremely fun! And at times, brutal. The graphics were incredibly stunning. And I was amazed that even a complete PC gaming n00b like myself was able to pick up the controls rather quickly. I often find myself turning away from MMOs, mostly because of the controls. I was born with a controller in my hand but there was something about “Vindictus” that I couldn’t find myself turning away from.
“Vindictus” is the first physics-based multiplayer online action RPG that contains a storyline that is inspired by Celtic mythology. All of the players join a mercenary unit called the “Crimson Blades” and wage battle against the Formors in hopes of reaching Erinn, the paradise promised by the goddess Morrighan. Since “Vindictus” uses a modified version of the Source Engine™, players will be able to throw, shatter and bind objects with chains as well as piercing enemies with spears.
And did I mention that the game is FREE! Can’t say that enough!
