Cooking Mama is back, and she’s cookin’ in 3D! To kick off the holiday season early, Majesco is serving up a double dose of Mama with Cooking Mama 4: Kitchen Magic!, and Camping Mama: Outdoor Adventures. I recently had the chance to try out both games, and they are quite similar to any of its predecessors. However, Majesco is changing it up with the latest addition to the Cooking Mama series, by offering it only on Nintendo 3DS. With over 200 mini-games specifically created available, there are plenty of chances to test out the 3D technology along with the gyroscopic tilt controls.
While they are still working out a few kinks with the game, I still found it thoroughly enjoyable. The 3D is not overwhelming, and it’s also not necessary to complete the tasks at hand. As for the gyroscopic tilt controls, it definitely adds to simulation of cooking, but it doesn’t always respond well, but I’m sure they will work that out. (It literally took me 5 times to slide a pizza in the oven!)
For those of you missing out with Cooking Mama 4 only available for 3DS, fear not! You can still get your dose of Mama in Camping Mama: Outdoor Adventures. Much like any Mama’ spin offs, it’s filled with mini- games. It features over100 different stylus based ones across a wide range of challenges connecting with each other. For example, if you go fishing, you have to make a fishing pole, use it to catch a fish, and then you can cook it as well. Mama is never really out of the kitchen is she? There are 38 different levels that span forests, mountains and seas. Play as either the son or daughter with Mama or Papa who provide guidance depending on the challenge. There are also plenty of customization options and collectible play.
Cooking Mama 4: Kitchen Magic! will hit stores November 22, 2011.
Camping Mama: Outdoor Adventures is available now.
