E3 2014: Xbox Press Conference

E3 2014 kicked off just like every other year–With the Xbox Press Conference. Even though I missed a huge chunk of it, I’m pretty certain that all the titles I am excited for won’t be available till late 2014 or even early 2015. So, let’s review quickly what Microsoft announced earlier today.

E3 2014: Xbox Press Conference

Sunset Overdrive

Sunset Overdrive continues to excite. With the initial plot stemming from a contaminated energy drink that has transformed most of the citizens into mutants, you have to do whatever you can to survive and save Sunset City. It’s stylized gameplay, sense of humor, and mayhem make it one title to keep and eye out for. Included with the trailer, we get a glimpse at Sunset Overdrive’s gameplay.

“Sunset Overdrive” (Insomniac Games, Microsoft Studios). Launching globally starting in the U.S. on Oct. 28, exclusively on Xbox One, “Sunset Overdrive” is a stylized open-world shooter filled with overpowered weapons, crazed mutants and a sprawling city full of carnage. Experience a deep, action-packed campaign or jump seamlessly into an eight-player online mode called Chaos Squad, powered by Xbox Live. With an arsenal of kickass, overpowered weapons and a knack for traversing the city with hyper-agility, it isn’t the end of days for you—your story is just beginning.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection & Halo 5: Guardians Multiplayer Beta

Can we just take a moment to reflect that Xbox actually didn’t have any Halo title ready when it launched the Xbox One? For some, this might be what we’ve been waiting for all this time. During E3 2013, we all got a first glimpse at Halo 5: Guardians and just last month new details were reveal. Today, Xbox teased details regarding Halo 5: Guardians Multiplayer. Touting dedicated servers and new Spartan abilities, all anyone would have to do to join the beta was purchase the upcoming Halo: The Master Chief Collection due out November 11. Well played, Microsoft. Well played indeed.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is Master Chief’s entire story playable on the Xbox One. Featuring remastered versions of Halo 2: Anniversary and Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 3, and Halo 4 as well as the digital series-Halo: Nightfall.

To launch the Halo: The Master Chief Collection at E3, Xbox and developer 343 Industries recreated one of the most iconic moments in the newly re-mastered Halo 2, with a twist by revealing that what the audience is seeing is a holographic projection that is being watched by a new and pivotal character in the Halo universe: Agent Locke. The more Locke studies Master Chief, the more the audience gets glimpses of Locke, and the dynamic between the characters is gradually revealed, a dynamic that will play out in the soon to be released Halo 5: Guardians.

Let’s just round out the rest of this post with a list of the remaining titles:
“Forza Horizon 2,” “Fable Legends”, “Dance Central™ Spotlight”, “Assassin’s Creed® Unity”, “Call of  Duty®: Advanced Warfare,” “Evolve™” and independent games like “INSIDE”. Seriously, there was no shortage in games during the Xbox press conference. This might be why it felt a little bit rushed this year. They were trying to jam pack every single title for this holiday season.

Now enough yammering and citing press releases. Check out the trailers below!
