Harmonix Amplitude

Harmonix is finally ready to give everyone what they have wanted for o’so long: a reboot of Amplitude™!

The studio is eager to return to their roots and bring a controller based Rhythm game to Next-Gen systems. However, they need our help to raise enough money to bring a team together to tackle this endeavor! Today, Harmonix kicked off their Kickstarter campaign in order to help raise $775,000 to help the small indie studio transform Amplitude from a passion project into a upcoming release. There are still a handful of original Amplitude team members working at Harmonix with 10 years of game development under their belt, it’s clear that they just need our help to get things rolling! In an earlier press release Harmonix stated that “[they aim] to update this cult classic title for modern game consoles with higher-fidelity visuals, new music, and more!”† Currently planned for release for both the Playstation® 4 and Playstation® 3.

“Bringing Amplitude to modern consoles is something we’ve been dying to do for ages,” says co-founder and CEO Alex Rigopulos, “and our earliest fans have been pleading for this for a decade. We’re hopeful that Kickstarter and the support of the community will allow us to finally make this dream a reality.”

“We think this type of synesthetic, audio-visual experience is perfect for modern consoles, widescreen high-definition televisions, and killer surround sound systems,” adds Ryan Lesser, Project Lead for the upcoming title and Art Director for the original 2003 Amplitude. “We’re positive that gorgeous, updated visuals running at 60 frames per second, an updated soundtrack, and other new features are going to be blow people’s minds.”†

The varying backing tiers range from owning the game for the PS3/PS4, ability to contribute to the game’s soundtrack, having dinner with Tim Schafer, and even flying out to Harmonix and having them throw a party in your name. Bottom line, let’s help the folks that helped us become living room guitar heroes by helping them get funding for their passion project!
