The Logitech G810 Orion Spectrum Gaming Keyboard may be the keyboard you did not know you needed, and I’m here to set the record straight. I know you thinking right now, but that’s a picture of Tom Clancy’s The Division. You’re right. What does this have to do with the Logitech G810 Orion Spectrum Gaming Keyboard? Just wait and see…
Time for some meat and potatoes folks. The Logitech G810 Orion Spectrum Gaming Keyboard is the newest edition to the Logitech gaming line of devices and a great entry it is. It is unlike many other gaming keyboards that are out there. Just looking at it you see that is has a much smaller footprint than many other keyboards out there. There are no macro keys built in to this keyboard. Is that a pro or a con? Only you can answer that. What I can tell you is that I absolutely love it. Logitech allows you to assign the F-Keys as your macro keys so you still have the much needed macro keys, without the necessity of a dozen keys taking up additional space on your keyboard. My current gaming keyboard has 22 macro keys. Twenty-two! That’s insane! Maybe some of you actually use all 22, but I do not. I also don’t have the largest PC gaming set-up. I have my two monitors, speakers, mouse and microphone on my desk. This keyboard fits in perfectly, allowing me to have some additional space on my desk for a nice beer. You can’t game on an empty stomach, am I right?
One of the most important features of any keyboard, gaming or not is how it feels, how responsive it is and how much abuse can it take. The Logitech Romer-G keys cover all their bases. These keys are super responsive, feel awesome to the touch and from what I’ve tested so far can take a beating. A nice perk to these keys as well is that they are relatively quiet. There are few worse things than playing with people and you are consistently hearing them mash their keys. It’s just awful, especially if you are a streamer. Nobody wants to hear that, just like they don’t want to hear you chomping on potato chips either. This keyboard will not help with the later, but you don’t have to stress about having the loudest keyboard in the neighborhood, and it won’t wake your roommate while you’re trying to max your Dwarf Paladin in World of Warcraft. The keys have been tested to to perform over over 70 million keystrokes so you don’t have to worry for quite some time about abusing the keys.
While we’re on the topic of keys, it’s a good time to talk about the media keys. They’re located at the top right of the keyboard. Far enough away from the action keys, but close enough that you can tab through songs mid game without any delay. These aren’t new, but it is always a nice feature. I like to stream, and like most streamers you don’t want to tab out of a window for any reason, especially to change what you are listening too. This keyboard allows you do work all of your media while also clearing the middle lane in DOTA.
Ah yes, the magic. This is where it happens. The Logitech G810 Orion Spectrum Gaming Keyboard comes with the most advanced software. If you are familiar with Logitech, you know they do their best to stay a step ahead of the competition in this regard. The software allows you to beautify your keyboard if you are that type of player. You can address a color to each and every single key. Other keyboards allow you to assign color to the LED’s but usually it’s dedicated to zones while the Logitech G810 allows for each key to be it’s own entity. The software comes packed with hundreds of games pre-loaded to help you out in the midst of battle. Most of the games I play regularly were already included in the software. If you are trying to get your Wolfenstein on then you are not out of luck because you can create gaming profiles with ease for any game that isn’t already part of the software package. This is also where you will create and assign your macro keys to any of the 12 F-keys. Magic! I know. I have been fortunate enough to get my hands on several gaming keyboards over the past few years and there isn’t a single one that allows you to customize a much as you can like the Logitech G810 Orion Spectrum Gaming Keyboard does. If I’m wrong please shoot me a message because I would really like to see it!
