Surviving The Aftermath – Early Access PC, & Xbox
Surviving the Aftermath is a post-apocalyptic survival sim putting you in charge of a base camp in a procedurally generated wasteland. You must command your survivors to forage, build, and survive all of the terrible things a post-apocalyptic world has to offer including raider attacks and natural disasters of all types. You will start off creating your rule-set. This controls the difficulty of your game and how hard it is to maintain your colony. Once you’ve decided how the world around you will be generated, you must then take over the role of the fearless leader and offer protection, shelter, and food for your survivors in this top-down action sim. Surviving the Aftermath can be best described as a cross between Civilization and SimCity. As your colony gets bigger you must produce more food, build more shelters, educate your colonists and so much more. I installed this game and wanted to try it out for a few minutes one night. I looked at the time and 3 hours had passed by like it was nothing. Incredibly difficult to put down, as you strive to provide the best care and make the right decisions for your colony. Some decisions a lot harder to make than others. Yes, this game is in early access and I would traditionally never put a game that wasn’t a fill-release in the Gift Guide; however, there is no reason why it couldn’t be a full release at this point. Didn’t encounter a single bug, or glitch in the hours I’ve put into this and I am comfortable purchasing this for a friend who loves a good strategy based game. My review is solely based on the PC version of the game. You can check out the trailer here and can easily purchase it via the Epic Games Store for PC or via Xbox Game preview by going to https://www.survivingtheaftermath.com/#buy-now.
