HyperX came through during CES 2020 with a collection of new offerings for mobile devices, the Nintendo Switch, and the PC. The new HyperX ChargePlay Clutch offer more ergonomic holding styles for either your mobile device or your Nintendo Switch, with each grip model doubling as portable battery for your device. On the PC side, the HyperX Cloud Flight S takes the acclaimed Cloud Flight headset and jam-packs it with a bevy of new features. The new HyperX Pulsefire Raid gaming mouse houses 11 programmable buttons and a Pixart 3389 sensor. And topping off the new PC offerings, the HyperX Alloy Origins gaming keyboard features HyperX Aqua mechanical switches with bright LED illumination.

Let’s dive into each.

Mobile & Console Gaming

The HyperX ChargePlay Clutch is designed for on-the-go gaming that will have you playing more comfortably for longer durations. At CES 2020, two HyperX ChargePlay Clutch models were showcased, one for Qi-ready mobile devices and the other for the Nintendo Switch. At their core, the HyperX ChargePlay Clutch grasps onto either the sides or around the top and bottom of your device, while extending handles that allow for a solid grip and more ergonomic gameplay. However, the models for both the Nintendo Switch and mobile have different charging styles and use styles.

The HyperX ChargePlay Clutch for Mobile is fairly simple and straightforward with its use. The handles extend outward on each side, then clamp onto your mobile device in a landscape layout. The center of the ChargePlay Clutch for Mobile charges your device wirelessly when you have the removable 3000mAh battery pack attached to the back. The battery pack snaps to the back of the ChargePlay Clutch magnetically, making it easy to attach or remove whenever you need to do either. The pack also houses LED indicators for battery level as well as a USB port for recharging.

Thanks to wireless charging functionality, this product at face value is bound to be compatible with a wide variety of devices. The HyperX ChargePlay Clutch for Mobile is slated to come out in the 2nd quarter of 2020 for $59.99.

The HyperX ChargePlay Clutch for Nintendo Switch goes even further than offering supplementary power for your console. It features even more grip options and play styles with the Nintendo Switch. You can opt to dock your Nintendo Switch into the ChargePlay Clutch, where a USB-C input keeps your console charged with its 6000mAh battery. Here, you just grab onto the handles and play with your Nintendo Switch comfortably for hours on end. However, those side grips are attached to the battery base via magnets. So, you can remove the side grips, slide each individual JoyCon into each of the grips, and connect the grips together to form a traditionally-oriented controller.

The back of the of the HyperX ChargePlay Clutch for Nintendo Switch houses LED indicators for battery level, as well as a kickstand. In this format, you can prop up the Nintendo Switch on a surface, while continuing to have it charge via the battery pack, and sit back with that traditionally-oriented controller setup.

The HyperX ChargePlay Clutch for Nintendo Switch will be available sometime in January 2020 for $59.99.
