There are quite a few things that can usually get me to stop and check out a booth during CE Week or maybe any convention in general. The folks at Boombotix met all my usual criteria. They were playing loud music from what appeared to look like a vinyl toy octopus. How could I not take a look? Plus, seriously look at how awesome this speaker looks!
Meet Boombotix and the Boombot REX.
Boombotix’s rugged ultraportable speaker, the Boombot REX, was initially born from a very successful Kickstarter project. After the launch, REX landed in key retailers such as Amazon, Apple.com and Microsoft – an impressive feat for a young start-up company.

Additionally, the button module along with the new connector covers help the Boombot REX take a step up in its water-resistance. The speaker now goes from a light rain/snow tested product to a product that is splash-worthy (the Boombot REX’s new model improves to an IPX4 rating from it’s previous IPX3).
