Mobile devices have not finished debuting for the year just yet. Today at the Walter Reade Theatre at Lincoln Center in New York City, LG announced the LG V10 and LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE. Spring-boarding off the success of the LG G4, the LG V10 continues with the formula of removable batteries and SD cards while revisiting their already impressive camera and general phone build. Let’s start with the specs.

The slightly rugged base construction of the LG V10 is geared to withstand drops from multiple angles. The base is reinforced by stainless steel sides and Gorilla Glass 4 for the screen. The LG V10 is built to take the hit while looking good doing so. That’s a breath of fresh air for a mobile device of this standard-as-of-late size. While cover and bumper cases were showcased at today’s event (below), I would rather steer clear of making these phones feel even larger than they are. This sleek rugged build can be further protected, but you may not feel inclined to do so.
An interesting take on how we check our quick notifications comes in the form of the LG V10’s second screen. Capable of showing you updates, even when your main screen is off, the second screen helps you save battery power while staying informed. Simple swipes left and right take you between the various updates that are important to you. The second screen sits along the top of the front and is intuitive enough to shut itself off when it senses that the LG V10 is in your pocket.
The big deal again here is the LG V10’s image and video capturing tools and features. The LG V10 houses two front-facing cameras, giving the user the choice of standard (80 degree) or wide-angle (120 degree) selfies. The front facing 16 MP camera is backed up by a myriad of manual customization tools, giving you the ability to manually control lighting, white balance and other core features of the image you are about to capture.
Steady Record combats blur and promotes image-stabilization, even when you are the one in motion while recording a video. Your videos can even sound clearer thanks to the inclusion of 3 directional microphones. The recording of these mics can also be tweaked by the user to ensure that the audio focus of the recording is spot-on.
Videos you record can be automatically truncated to 15 seconds using 15 Second Auto Edit. This is great for those times that you just want to post up a short version of version of the videos you record onto social media. The Quick Share feature allows you to quickly post your media just that much faster – just find what you want to go up and choose the outlet of your choice. Took multiple videos and just want to make one perfect video without having to use fancy tools on your PC? Snap Video allows you to merge segments of any video you record into one video, all straight from the LG V10.
Coming soon to the US, the LG V10 has been confirmed for AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile. From what we saw at today’s event, release colors will be black, white and a light blue. LG’s aiming right for what people what in their phones, great multimedia with a durable build. The LG V10 is definitely one to look out for.

The LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE was touched on at the beginning of today’s presentation but only a limited amount of info was shared about it. However, one very noteworthy tidbit is the ability of the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE to handle phone calls independently, straight from the watch. Your phone does not have to be anywhere near it or paired to it. Definitely, a new way to stay connected while being as electronically bare as possible.
