Here’s my review: Go see New Madrid live. (Brooklynites have a chance to see the band free tonight at New York’s Baby’s All Right, lucky you.) New Madrid’s underwater-psych rock vibe opened up into an intense and emotional landscape of loudness and shoegazing mastery in front of an audience at The Studio at Webster Hall on Friday night. Think My Morning Jacket giving way to The Men’s aggressive attack on noise and Americana rock.
Openers The Landing brought on a cosmic groove setting and a trio of yoga-ballet sexy dancers donned in Cobra Commander masks. Reflective (both in terms of those masks and lyrical content) poppy fun, The Landing succeeded in getting the early crowd to go cut up some rug.
