Back with their fifth album, “Chuckles and Mr. Squeezy” are the alt rockers dredg! If you’re unfamiliar with these California natives, might I suggest you check out their second album, “Catch Without Arms” which was released back in 2005. Why that album you ask? I’ll tell ya. That was the album that turned me onto the band. I can’t even imagine to guess how many times I’ve listened to the entire CD. Not just one or two tracks, but the entire CD. It was revolutionary to me, as is their upcoming CD “Chuckles and Mr. Squeezy.”
The opening track, ‘Another Tribe‘ is powerful. A great opening chapter to an amazing story. The emotion behind ‘Another Tribe‘ doesn’t end there, it flows throughout this album. I can easily say that this is one of the best albums of 2011. I review a lot of band’s and their music. A lot of different genres, and this is one of my top picks of all time.
Their calm, almost haunting demeanor keeps me asking for more. No matter what mood you are in, these album always seems appropriate, and I honestly can’t say why. Good bands are common, great bands are few and far between.
With a faster tempo, ‘Sun Goes Down‘ is easily one of the best tracks. dredg has a way to turn their music into vivid images in your head. Every song being a completely different picture, different colors, different moods. ‘Chuckles and Mr. Squeezy’ features 11 of the greatest, good mood inducing tracks that you ears will ever lay witness too.
