[dropcap]P[/dropcap]AX East invaded Boston this weekend. We got the chance to briefly chat with ThinkGeek to learn a bit more about the brand while getting the chance to check out some of their convention exclusives first-hand. They began in 1999 as an online hub for geek accessories. When ThinkGeek was purchased by GameStop last year, they were able to spread their online offerings to physical locations. Now with more than 20 locations across the US, ThinkGeek is able to share their unique products with a broader audience. What started as a place for clever t-shirts and unusual gifts is now the best way to find wondrous goods that express all your passions.†
During PAX East, ThinkGeek was brimming with convention exclusives. With products from familiar franchises like Nintendo’s Super Mario, Bethesda’s Fallout, and Capcom’s Street Fighter, their booth was definitely a must stop for every attendee. But what if you weren’t able to attend the show? ThinkGeek has been on a mission to create a world where everyone can embrace their inner geek and connect with one another.† So, of course they didn’t want to leave anyone out. In fact, if you ever learn about a convention exclusive from ThinkGeek, you can be certain that you will be able to purchase it directly from their site while quantities last. Now no one has to feel left out of owning a convention exclusive.
So, let’s take a peek at some of the new products they had on hand:
Super Mario Piranha Plant Hand Puppet
These fearsome plants are a staple in Super Mario universe. Sometimes they come from pipes, sometimes they grow from the ground, and sometimes they spit fireballs. It’s safe to say at this point that they are pretty hungry and have our red and green overall-clad heroes as top choices on the menu. We aren’t saying you could eat a whole person with a puppet, but it’s worth a shot!
Fallout 4 T-51 Power Armor
Be the envy of the entire Commonwealth with this ThinkGeek exclusive Fallout 4 T-51 Power Armor Figure. From ThreeZero, this figure with over 35 points of articulation is just like their T-45 and T-60 Power Armor Figures, except, well, it’s the T-51, so it’s superior. (But that also means the pieces are interchangeable, in case your particular Sole Survivor needs a female head or a AER-9 Laser Rifle.)
Street Fighter Enamel Pin Diorama
The Street Fighter Enamel Pin Diorama features the iconic fighters Chun-Li and Ryu preparing to face off on Ryu’s stage set in Japan. Both pins stand at 2 inches tall and have stickback pin style and rubber stopper. Let everyone know that you are prepared for all new challengers.
