Once again Razer is keeping ahead of the curve by introducing the next generation of smart bands with the Razer Nabu. Limited units are currently being shipped out to qualified developers to utilize the open device. The Nabu was first announced in January at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, where it was voted the Best of CES “People’s Choice” winner.
The Developer Program
Software Development Kits (SDK) are totally free to developers via the Nabu Developer Program’s portal which can be found here! For those of you who are self proclaimed “smarty pants” types, you can sing up to qualify to be part of the development at that link and for $49.99 you can get your hands on your very own Nabu Developer Edition smart band.
Beta
Are you like me with little coding skills and a great desire to get your hands on some brand new technology? Razer is offering 500 Nabus for only $1. Yes, you heard me right…one fricken dollar. That’s less than a double cheeseburger! The 500 lucky SOB’s will be chose from a pool of applicants as beta testers where it will be your responsibility to stress test the hell out of the Nabu, and provide hardware and software feedback directly to the Razer engineering team.
Who doesn’t want to get their hands on this piece of technology from the future? Head over to http://www.razerzone.com/nabu and sign up. Maybe if you eat enough bowls of Lucky Charms you’ll be one of the lucky 500 to get your chance to check it out.
Here are the technical specs for all you crazy kids…
The Razer Nabu is an innovative wearable technology that delivers notifications from a smartphone right to one’s wrist and logs activity data. More impressively, it is also an open platform that third-party applications can exploit to create novel experiences for users.
The Razer Nabu Beta Edition is an early-exclusive look at Razer’s wearable platform, and as such, software and hardware engineering tests and development are still in progress internally. With feedback from testers, Razer aims to create a device that encompasses most of what users seek in next-gen wearables.
