Review: Logitech G733 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Headset

It has been some time since we reviewed a Logitech G PC gaming headset. The last one we tackled was the Logitech G Pro X Gaming Headset, featuring Blue VO!CE technology to deliver a broadcast quality microphone experience. Sure enough, that mic performance was indeed a head turner. So it is good to see that Logitech G kept that Blue VO!CE technology going in the G733 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Headset, for PC and PlayStation 4. The G733 is a part of Logitech G’s Color Collection of gaming peripherals designed to deliver quality performance with more flair than ever before. Coming in five stylish color options, how exactly does the $129.99 G733 stack up the gaming headset realm?

Let’s dive in and find out.

The G733 is designed to pair stylishly with fellow Color Collection products such as the G305 LIGHTSPEED wireless gaming mouse and the wireless G915 LIGHTSPEED TKL gaming keyboard. The G733 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Headset is offered in Blue, Lilac, White, Black, and KDA.

A purchase of the G733 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Headset comes with the G733 headset itself, a removable cardioid mic, a USB-A to USB-C charging cable, and a wireless USB receiver dongle.

Build and Comfort

The wireless G733 headset houses Logitech’s very own PRO-G drivers, powered by DTS Headphone:X 2.0 surround sound. The removable boom mic is Discord Certified for clear communication and is reinforced by BLUE VO!CE filters via Logitech’s G Hub software.

This headset brings style and comfort, sporting a 278g weight, dual-layer memory foam ear cushions, and an adjustable suspension headband. The headband has two slots on each side, allowing you some wiggle room to adjust the band for different head sizes. You have front-facing LED strips with two color zones that are fully customizable with up to 16.8 million colors.

All of the G733’s inputs and ports sit on the left ear cup. Here, you have the slot for the removable boom mic, a USB-C charging port, the power button, a master volume dial, and a mic mute toggle button.

The G733 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Headset is as much as pleasure to look at as it is to wear. Outside of sleek headset color options, the G733 also offers a bit of variety featuring additional $10 headband straps that come in five stylish color variants, sold separately. If you are a streaming while on camera, those front-facing LED’s help to add a little extra personality to your appearance. The G Hub software lets you fully control the LED colors, brightness, and animation patterns. Ready for the long haul, the G733 will stay powered with the LED’s on for a whopping 20 hours.

If your preference is lifespan over style, you can add up to 9 hours more of play time with the LED’s off. As 29 hours of use is a long time, it is here where the G733’s high level of comfort really shines. That 278g weight coupled with the suspension headband and dual-layer memory foam ear cushions keeps this headset comfortable for hours. While the mesh cushioning can allow for some of the louder background sounds to leak in, the G733 makes up for it with its lack of wearing fatigue. Being one of the most comfortable headsets that I have ever worn, I was able to use the G733 for five-hour sessions without feeling a pinch of wearing fatigue.

Features and Performance

The PRO-G drivers coupled with DTS Headphone:X 2.0 surround sound bring forth a clear and immersive sound presentation. The surround sound on the G733 allows for solid positional awareness while delivering a deep and satisfying bass. As prevalent as the bass is, it never distorts or overwhelms the necessary high ranges that allow you to pick up footsteps and gunfire. Best of all, this experience can be tweaked to your preferences by using the G Hub software.

Through G Hub, you can customize the behavior of the LEDs, reassign a function to the mic mute button, or tweak the EQs of either the PRO-G drivers or the boom mic. Here is where the value of the G733 really shines. If you know what you are doing when it comes to EQ management, then you will feel right at home with these pretty standard options and controls. However, G Hub adds some crowdsourcing into their Logitech G peripheral customization experience.

If you want more EQ options outside of G Hub’s standard EQ’s, but you do not want to tweak your own settings from scratch, you can simply download and apply community creations. Whether you are looking for a new starting point from which you want begin your tweaks, or if you simply want to use what most gamers are using, it is all up to you. You can search by presets or peripheral, see how many it was downloaded, and check the amount of likes the preset got by the community.

For the bulk of my playthroughs, I went with this FPS preset for the G733’s drivers and this Broadcaster 1 preset for the mic. My teammates and I liked what we heard.

I was treated to clear and precise positional sound that allowed me to detect the location of my enemies accurately. My teammates were treated to clear and concise call outs, whenever I needed help or spotted an enemy. This was the result of just one of my Apex Legends Arenas matches, where enemies had some trouble sneaking up on me. No one sneaks up on Fusey…

Final Thoughts

At $129, the Logitech G G733 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Headset is a solid purchase. You get a headset with high levels of style and comfort that does not disappoint in the sound department. Both inbound and outbound, the G733 delivers clear and customizable sound that you can tweak to your desires. If you are a gaming streamer, with or without a camera facing you, you can rest assured that you will look as good as you sound thanks to the G733’s looks and a mic backed by BLUE VO!CE technology. I personally would have liked an optional leatherette or fabric/leatherette hybrid option for the ear cushions. As comfortable as those cushions are, I would have preferred an option that offers a just little more sound isolation than what you get from these cushions.
