TCL TV Reveals at CES 2022

TCL unveiled a bevy of upgrades to their television line which include larger screen sizes as well as new backlit technology. This might be an option for those looking to upgrade their big-screen home theaters with the latest and greatest from CES.

Let’s dive into the details revealed today…

As streaming trends continue to grow, it’s no surprise that TCL will continue its partnership with Roku and Google TV™ in 2022 and through its newly announced XL Collection. This collection of televisions will deliver a larger-than-life home entertainment experience wherein the TVs exceed 80″. In fact, their newest model within the series is a 98″ QLED-powered TV that they tout as being currently available at most popular retailers for under $8,000. At the time of this post, we were unable to verify that, but when we can, we’ll be sure to update this post with links for more details.

TCL introduced the world’s first TV with mini-LED backlit technology about three years ago with tens of thousands of micro-meter class mini-LEDs arrayed behind the LCD in order to deliver pure precision contrast and smooth luminance. However, who knew that its third generation would feature the same technology with a larger screen size. In addition to the 98″ QLED, the 85″ 8K QLED X925pro features OD Zero™ mini-LED backlight technology with an ultra-thin profile under 10 millimeters.

TCL TVs promise to provide even more color with Quantum Dot technology and wide color standards which means more contrast through the mini-LED backlight technology and Contrast Control Zones™; and more clarity with new HDR standards and display resolution moving from 4K to 8K†. Through their partnership with Pixelworks as well as other entertainment leaders, TCL is seeking to define and deploy a new motion ecosystem: TrueCut Motion. TrueCut Motion is an end-to-end solution that includes a new content delivery format and device certification program to guarantee a consistent filmmaker-approved output†.

As far as gaming is concerned, TCL TVs will continue to feature their Auto Game Mode which allows for automatic and super-responsive game-feel as well as a Variable Refresh Rate that should be able to keep up with intense gameplay. HDR Gaming Interest Group (HGiG) mode already provides the ultimate HDR and 4K HDR in 120Hz gaming performance. However this year, TCL will step up from a 120Hz panel refresh rate to 144Hz for even smoother action and better game-feel.

If you’re looking to upgrade your home theater experience, TCL might be worth taking a look at. We’ll be sure to update this post with relevant links for those seeking additional information.
